How long do Juvederm injections last?

The Greenwich Medical Staff - Monday, May 10, 2010
Juvaderm has FDA clearance to last  up to 12 months.  On average we find Juvaderm Ultra to last up to 6months, and Juvaderm Ultra Plus to last a bit longer.  It all depends on your metabolism and how fast or slow your body breaks down the product.

Are there multiple forms of Juvederm?

The Greenwich Medical Staff - Tuesday, February 02, 2010
Currently there are two types of Juvederm. Juvederm Ultra, and Juvederm Ultra Plus. The difference is in the viscosity. Ultra Plus is better for when more volume is necessary, which typically (but not always) is seen in an older face. Soon, Juvederm is coming out with local anesthetic added to it, to cut down on the stinging sensation that is sometimes accompanied by the injections.

Which facial filler lasts the longest?

The Greenwich Medical Staff - Wednesday, October 07, 2009
There are many new fillers in the market.  The choice depends on what you are looking to correct.

Some of the popular fillers are:

Evolance, recently introduced

Restylane, Perlane, Juvaderm Ultra and Juvaderm Ultra Plus are dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a substance naturally found in our body. The difference between these fillers are the manufacturers and their manufacturing process.  They can last any where from six months to a year.  At our practice we mainly use the HA fillers and achieve great results.  We like Juvaderm Ultra for the lips.

Radiesse is a calcium based dermal filler that helps temporarily fill-in facial fold and wrinkles.  We like Radiesse for volumizing the hands. The results can last up to a year or more depending the client and how his/her body metabolizes the product.

Evolance, the new kid on the block is a dermal filler made of natural collagen, a protein that is responsible for skin structure and strength.  It does not require any skin testing. Unlike other dermal fillers, Evolence causes little or no swelling, or bruising, or even redness.  It can last six to 12 months.
