School is out and summer is in full swing. Now, more than any other time of year, our clients are bothered by the build up of blackheads on their face, and rightly so. Excess sweat and more frequent application of sunscreen is the perfect recipe for blackhead formation.
But what are blackheads exactly?
When a pore fills with sebum and dead skin cells, a blockage can form. These blockages are called open comedones, and when exposed to oxygen, they oxidize and turn the sebum a dark color – hence the name blackheads.
You CAN get rid of blackheads! Along with proper extractions during your facial treatment at Greenwich Medical Spa, there are remedies you can do to prevent buildup in the pores.
Gentle exfoliation is a great place to start! We suggest Arieed MD reDeem Everyday Radiance Daily Exfoliating Pads. These pads combine a delicate blend of glycolic, salicylic, lactic and kojic acid combined with organic aloe vera. Use these pads as your toning step or as a skin cleansing wipe after exercise or time outdoors.
Vitamin A, or Retinol, is another helpful ingredient when it comes to battling blackheads. Retinol helps to promote cellular turnover and normalizes sebum production. We love Arieed MD reBuild Retinol Serum 50. Use it 3 times a week in the evening, and notice a significant change in your skin within days.
These at home products from Arieed MD, along with routine facials at Greenwich Medical Spa, is your ultimate solution for clearer pores and glowing skin!
