Free Yourself from Constant Hair Removal: Laser Hair Reduction Explained

Tired of Shaving Every Day?

How many steps are there in your morning routine? If you are like most of us, probably more than you really have time for. Between getting yourself ready and taking care of others, removing even one task from your daily to-do list would likely be an upgrade.

While they won’t cook breakfast or make the bed, a series of Laser Hair Reduction treatments can at least keep you from needing to shave every day. And because laser treatments work on any area of the body with unwanted hair, you can free yourself from constant hair removal on your legs, underarms, bikini, chest, or arms. This treatment is also appropriate for unwanted hair on the face, including eyebrows.

Laser Hair ‘Reduction’

If you’re already familiar with the process of treating unwanted hair with a laser, you might have noticed we are calling it Laser Hair Reduction instead of Laser Hair Removal. What we have seen in the past 19 years we’ve been providing laser treatments to patients is that long-term results vary from person to person.

Most people will see a dramatic reduction in hair growing in the treated area. Some patients experience complete and permanent hair removal, while others have a lot less hair that is much easier to maintain. Either way, Laser Hair Reduction will decrease or eliminate the need for other types of hair removal, such as shaving, waxing, plucking, and threading. Ouch – no one will miss those!

Does Laser Hair Reduction Work?

Laser Hair Reduction may help reduce or eliminate unwanted hair on any area of the body or face. To get the best results, patients should expect to have at least six treatments and individual treatment plans depend on the amount, texture, and color of hair in the treated area.

It does not take six treatments to start seeing results though! After each visit, you will notice hair becoming sparser as hair follicles in the current growth phase are damaged.

We’ve been doing this for a long time, and the technology has continued to improve. Today, we use the GentleMax Pro laser for hair reduction treatments. It is effective for targeting all hair colors, which is very exciting. In the past, Laser Hair Reduction was less effective on people with blond or white hair.

The dual-wavelength GentleMax Pro selectively targets the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding tissue. Even better, it features the Dynamic Cooling Device, which sprays the treatment area with a liquid cryogen coolant before each laser pulse, making treatment much more comfortable.

What Results Can I Expect from Laser Hair Reduction?

Once you complete your full recommended treatment series, you can expect significantly reduced hair growth in the treated area. Laser Hair Reduction works by damaging hair follicles, leaving them incapable of producing hair at their usual rate. Some follicles will no longer produce any hair. And for some patients, none of the treated follicles will produce hair.

Although you can expect hair reduction, the amount varies. You might still need to shave, but you’ll be doing it much less frequently!

What to Know Before and After a Laser Hair Reduction Treatment

Launching your Laser Hair Reduction treatment series takes a bit of planning. You will need to avoid tanning, waxing, or tweezing for 4-6 weeks prior to treatment, although you can shave a day or two before your session.

After each treatment, you may notice the appearance and sensation of a mild sunburn, but it should go away within a few hours. You will need to stay out of the sun for another week after treatment. Because Laser Hair Reduction requires so much time away from sun, winter is an ideal time to start treatment. By summer, you will already be celebrating dramatically reduced hair.
