Physician Assistant Shilpa Desai came to medical aesthetics already possessing an extensive background in the medical field. She earned her Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential in Applied Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in liberal studies at SUNY Purchase, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies (M.P.A.S.) from Mercy College. Shilpa became a Respiratory Therapist in 1996, then worked as a pharmaceutical rep, before becoming a Board Certified (NCCPA) Physician Assistant in 2006. As a PA, she spent time in areas including cardiovascular surgery, general neurology and emergency medicine. In 2014, she recognized her overwhelming desire to transfer to medical aesthetics and began earning certifications and completing advanced training in aesthetic dermatology. One of her goals was to help women and men combat the stigma of aging, particularly as it relates to the workforce. Today, she holds certifications from the Esthetic Skin Institute in Advanced Dermal Filler and Neurotoxin Injections, as well as certification in Ultherapy and a Masters in CoolSculpting.
Shilpa is passionate about empowering patients to take charge of the way they look and feel. A true artist, according to her patients, Shilpa views the face and body as her canvas. Corrective work is her specialty, and she enjoys providing challenging treatments like non-surgical nose jobs. She is known for her ability to create beautiful, natural lips and gets rewarded by seeing her patients’ positive reactions after treatment and watching them become more confident.
A lifelong vegetarian, Shilpa grew up with the teachings of Jainism and has respect for all living things. She strives to live a pure existence every day and brings this compassion to her patient relationships. Outside Greenwich Medical Spa, Shilpa enjoys traveling, spending time with family and her fiancé, taking care of her two rescue dogs and kayaking in the Long Island Sound. She also volunteers with the ASPCA and Humane Society.
