Pre And Post-Care Treatment Instructions for Optimal Results
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THE FOLLOWING PATIENTS:
✔ Pregnant or breastfeeding women.
✔ Significant systemic illness
✔ Allergies to Lidocaine
✔ Illness or infection localized to areas of treatment
✔ Active acute systemic illness
✔ Recent surgery to the area
✔ Other therapies or medications, such as blood thinners, which may interfere with the protocol
✔ Patients who expect significant weight loss are not good candidates for SmartLipo
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PATIENTS WITH A HISTORY OF:
✔ Acute infections
✔ Heart failure
✔ Intolerance to anesthesia
✔ Keloid formation
✔ Poor wound healing
✔ If an anti-anxiety medication is prescribed for your procedure, please fill the prescription and bring it with you on the day of the procedure.
DO NOT DRIVE IF YOU HAVE TAKEN THIS MEDICATION, YOU MUST HAVE A RIDE TO AND FROM THE OFFICE.
✔ The antibiotics prescribed are to be started the evening prior to the procedure and continued till medication is finished.
✔ If you take a blood thinner (baby aspirin, Coumadin, Plavix, etc.) please let us know as this can affect your care and post-surgical treatment.
✔ Please avoid ibuprofen and alcohol one week prior to the procedure. Also discontinue all multivitamins, St John’s Wort, Fish Oil, and Vitamin E.
✔ Drink a large amount of water (4-8 glasses a day) for one week prior to your procedure.
✔ Please bathe the day of your procedure and do not apply any creams or make-up to the area treated.
✔ Please wear comfortable loose clothing. We recommend a button-up shirt which is easier for you to remove after neck and abdominal procedures.
✔ Prior to your procedure, we recommend consuming a light meal.
✔ Please do not bring any jewelry or valuables on the day of your treatment.
✔ If medication is prescribed, take the prescription medications as indicated.
✔ Minimal discomfort is usually anticipated with most Smartlipo body sculpting procedures. If you experience discomfort, it may be relieved by Tylenol or other medication prescribed for you. If the discomfort is getting worse, please call the
office at 860-657-1064
✔ There may be drainage from your incisions. This is normal and may last several days. You may place gauze sponges inside your compression garment to absorb any drainage.
✔ A compression garment must be worn for 4 days. If you remove it, please make sure the seam is on the outside when putting it back on. Keep absorbent dressing under the garment on for 24 hours. We will remove it or change it during your next-day post-op visit.
✔ You may experience some bruising and induration (hard areas), this is normal. If it becomes uncomfortable or persists more than 2 months let us know.
✔ Do not engage in vigorous exercise or sports such as running, jogging or weight lifting for at least 2 weeks or until approved by the physician.
✔ Please use a vitamin E cream on your incisions, twice a day to keep them moist.
✔ Do not bathe or immerse yourself in water until instructed by our staff.
✔ Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours post-procedure.
DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL AT ANY TIME WHILE TAKING PAIN MEDICATION.
AFTERCARE SKINCARE REGIMEN
Once steri-strips are removed and incisions are healed, continue to moisturize the area with a Vitamin E based moisturizer and protect with SPF.
