Radiant Skin for The Holidays with Microneedling

With the holiday season fast approaching, it’s the perfect time to refresh your look and feel your best. At Greenwich Medical Spa, we offer a range of treatments to help you achieve glowing skin and highly recommend microneedling for party prep and special events.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that stimulates your skin’s natural ability to repair itself and maximize collagen production. Also known as collagen induction therapy, microneedling creates micro-punctures in the skin using miniature, sterilized needles. These little “injuries” kickstart your skin’s natural healing process, enhancing collagen and elastin levels for a more youthful appearance. New collagen is formed, resulting in improved skin texture, tone, and radiance and a reduction in stretch marks, scars, and wrinkles.

Why Microneedling is Perfect for Shrinking Pores

Pore size can increase due to a number of factors including genetics, aging (loss of skin elasticity), excessive oil production, sun damage, hormonal fluctuations, and excessive exfoliation which causes the skin around the pores to lose firmness and the pores to stretch and become more visible.

In stimulating new collagen and elastin, microneedling creates the appearance of tighter skin and smaller pores. Microneedling can also reduce the appearance of other imperfections like acne scars and fine lines.

Benefits of Microneedling for Glowing Skin Before the New Year

Skin Brightening: Microneedling promotes cell turnover, which helps remove dull, dead skin cells and improves overall skin tone.

Even Skin Texture: It also smooths rough areas and reduces blemishes, creating a more even and polished appearance.

Boosted Skincare Absorption: Microneedling leads to enhanced absorption of serums and skincare products post-treatment, amplifying results.

Long-Term Glow: It  can have cumulative benefits, leading to lasting skin radiance that will carry through the New Year.

What to Expect from a Microneedling Treatment

On the day of your appointment, use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer and arrive with clean, dry, and makeup-free skin. Prior to the treatment, a numbing cream is typically applied. Once the microneedling treatment starts,  you might feel warmth or a scratching sensation on your face.

Immediately following the procedure, your skin will likely be red, a bit sore, dry, and even a little raw. Expect it to be hypersensitive to any bacteria, abrasive regimens, and sun exposure for the next one to two weeks. Regular cleansing, hydration, and proper sun protection will support your skin in this sensitive state. Using antioxidant-rich products will further aid the healing and collagen production process for a more radiant result.

Post Care Tips

Refrain from wearing makeup for at least 24 hours (the more days you can spend bare-faced, the better) and avoid sweat-inducing exercise and direct sunlight exposure for three days after microneedling.

Stay clear of using any exfoliating skin tools (for one week) or undergoing any cosmetic practices (for at least two weeks) during the healing process.

Drink plenty of water to keep your skin and system hydrated, too. Caffeine, alcohol and processed foods dehydrate your skin and can slow your body’s healing process. Limiting these items in your everyday life will only further improve and enhance your final results.

Why Microneedling is Ideal for Holiday & New Year Prep

It’s  important to start your microneedling treatments early to give skin time to recover and glow for holiday and New Year’s events. That being said, you can expect glowing results in a relatively short time — two to four weeks. That’s roughly the amount of time that it takes for collagen to develop fully. It also takes about a month for the skin cells to turn over entirely, from start to finish.

Microneedling at Greenwich Medical Spa

In addition to microneedling, we also offer advanced techniques or add-ons like PRP or RF microneedling that enhance results.

What is RF Microneedling?

RF Microneedling combines radiofrequency which uses heat energy with microneedling, a nonsurgical procedure that uses tiny needles to trigger collagen production.

How Does RF Microneedling Work?

Microneedles create microchannels at controlled depths in the skin which allow radiofrequency energy to penetrate the skin in a more targeted way than it could on its own. As a result, RF Microneedling reaches deeper layers more effectively and efficiently to maximize collagen and elastin production.

What does RF Microneedling do for the body?

RF Microneedling is an effective treatment for targeting loose, saggy skin and improving the appearance of stretch marks. Use it to tighten and tone loose skin on the knees, arms and elbows, eliminate jiggling stomach skin, and reduce stretch marks virtually anywhere.

Whether the cause is age, weight loss or pregnancy, RF Microneedling can tackle trouble spots that come from loss of collagen and elasticity with no downtime.
