Hang onto those last few weeks of summer and look your best with an all-season favorite, Ultherapy. While summer sun can limit cosmetic services, Ultherapy’s skin tightening treatment relies on ultrasound technology, as opposed to lasers, making it safe and effective when sun exposure is inevitable. Here’s how Ultherapy works and why we love it.Â
Unlike traditional laser treatments which use light to heat and destroy skin tissue, Ultherapy uses sound waves at very high frequencies (0.5-5 MHz) to produce mechanical vibration within the tissues. This mechanical energy treats the deepest layers of your epidermis, allowing Ultherapy to lift and tighten your neck, chin, and brow and improve fine lines and wrinkles with no surgery or downtime—so you can return to summer activities without missing a beat.¹Â
What to expect during Ultherapy
During Ultherapy, your provider will use a handheld ultrasound device to emit waves into your skin at precise amounts and depths. The procedure takes 30 to 60 minutes and uses the body’s own subtle healing response to gradually restore memory to the skin and its underlying tissue. At Greenwich Medical Spa, Ultherapy requires no special recuperation or preparation and typically only takes one treatment to get a meaningful response. Overall, Ultherapy is a safe, effective, and long-lasting option for those looking to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Safe & Effective Results
A wealth of clinical evidence and patient testimonials supports the effectiveness of Ultherapy, including the following randomized clinical trial and a long-term study.Â
Randomized, split-face clinical trial
This trial compared two devices for lifting and tightening the face and upper neck. The study found that both devices significantly improved laxity, and there were no statistical differences between them in terms of patient satisfaction, adverse events, or standardized investigator measures.²
Long-term efficacy study
This study found that 90% of subjects perceived aesthetic improvement at 90 days, and 95% perceived improvement at 180 days and one year. 95–100% of subjects were also satisfied or very satisfied with the results at 90, 180 days, and one year.Â
The long-term study is considered the largest clinical study of the effectiveness of the Ultheraphy for rejuvenation of the lower face. At day 90, improvements were reported by two-thirds of patients and by nearly 60% of blinded reviewers. Outcomes were better in patients with BMI ≤30 kg/m2.
